Portraits and urban night scenes in charcoal and acrylic
Tom Faber works across charcoal and acrylic, often in the same week. His portraits are close and unheroic — people in rooms, at work, lit from the side. His urban work is nocturnal: the city at 2am, when the tram is almost empty.
He studied in Luxembourg and Brussels, and now works entirely from his studio in Differdange.
“A portrait is an argument about what matters in a face. I try to lose that argument gracefully.”
