Quiet landscapes of the Éislek
Marie Weyland paints the flat horizons and shifting weather of northern Luxembourg. Working from a studio near the capital, she spends several months each year in the Éislek, building up studies in watercolour before returning to oil on linen.
Her work is concerned with the quality of northern light at the edge of seasons — the grey-green of late winter fields, the pale wash of overcast October. Nothing is dramatised.
“The weather does the work. I just try not to get in the way.”
